Quauhquecholteca

Mesoamericans used animal symbols as emblems of war. They could represent the lineage or noble house to which a warrior belonged, or a prestigious military order. In the Lienzo de Quauhquechollan, the Quauhquecholteca war emblems we see are the eagle, the jaguar, and the ocelot.

Military costumes were called tlahuiztli in Nahuatl.

Spanish

The symbol of the Spanish army was a two-pointed red flag tied to a staff with a cross on the top. This standard also appears on Spanish paintings depicting the conquest and other indigenous pictograms.
